Subsea Engineer

About the role

Role Overview The Subsea Engineer acts as the technical focal point for subsea systems, ensuring safe and reliable operations from the topside interface down to the seabed. This includes design, installation, inspection, repair, and optimization of subsea hardware and production systems. Core Responsibilities Design & Installation Develop specifications for subsea equipment (trees, manifolds, connectors, jumpers, umbilicals). Oversee installation and retrieval operations, ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards. Operations & Optimization Operate and optimize subsea production systems (start-up/shutdown sequences, choke management, hydrate/wax mitigation). Monitor subsea control modules (SCMs), hydraulics, and valve performance. Integrity Management Conduct corrosion/erosion monitoring, cathodic protection surveys, and flexible riser inspections. Ensure compliance with integrity standards and perform risk assessments. Inspection, Repair & Maintenance (IRM) Plan and execute subsea interventions using ROV tooling and contingency procedures. Support testing and commissioning (FAT, SIT, SAT, pressure testing, hydraulic cleanliness verification). Safety & Compliance Lead hazard analyses (HAZID/HAZOP), risk assessments, and emergency response drills. Ensure compliance with HSE policies and subsea operational standards. Required Skills & Knowledge Technical Expertise : Subsea hardware (trees, manifolds, connectors, risers), controls systems, hydraulics, and flow assurance. Engineering Skills : Structural analysis, fatigue awareness, materials selection, corrosion management. Operational Knowledge : Drilling rig operations, subsea installation procedures, intervention planning. Qualification Requirements Education : Degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, or Subsea Engineering (or equivalent). Experience : 3-5 years in subsea engineering, offshore operations, or subsea equipment design. Certifications : Offshore survival training, medical fitness certification, and relevant subsea product training. Attributes : Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work offshore for extended rotations, effective communication, and leadership in supervising offshore crews.
