Getting Started
How does Hiro work?
Hiro aggregates job listings from multiple sources and uses AI to match them against your profile. Once you set up your skills, preferred roles, location, and salary range, Hiro scores every job on how well it fits you. You can apply with one click for supported jobs, track your applications, and get daily digest emails with your top matches.
Is Hiro free?
Yes! Hiro's Free plan gives you access to job matching, fit scores, saved jobs, and application tracking. Pro ($19/mo) adds AI cover letters, interview prep, salary insights, and unlimited alerts. Elite ($39/mo) adds everything in Pro plus the H-1B sponsor database, priority support, and advanced analytics.
How do I set up my profile?
After signing up, you'll be guided through an onboarding wizard where you enter your skills, target roles, preferred locations, salary expectations, and visa requirements. You can update your profile anytime from the Settings page. The more complete your profile, the better your job matches will be.
Job Matching
How does the fit score work?
The fit score (0–100) is calculated by comparing your profile against each job listing. It weighs factors like skill overlap, role match, location compatibility, salary range alignment, and visa sponsorship availability. Jobs scoring 80+ are considered strong matches, 60–79 are decent fits, and below 60 may be a stretch.
Why am I seeing certain jobs?
Jobs are surfaced based on your profile preferences including target roles, skills, location, and salary range. Hiro fetches listings from multiple sources every 8 hours, so new jobs appear regularly. If you're seeing irrelevant results, try refining your profile. Adding more specific skills and roles improves matching accuracy.
What does 'One-Click Apply' mean?
One-Click Apply jobs let you submit your application directly through Hiro without being redirected to an external site. Your profile information is sent to the employer instantly. Jobs without this option will redirect you to the company's application page.

New Features
How does auto-apply work?
Auto-apply (available on Pro and Elite) lets Hiro apply to high-fit jobs on your behalf every morning. You set the rules: minimum fit score, must-have locations, excluded companies, and a daily cap. Hiro runs the process around 6am in your time zone and sends you a summary email listing every job we applied to so you can opt out of any. You always stay in control. Learn more in the Job Seeker Guide.
What are fit scores?
Every job gets a 0 to 100 fit score comparing the listing against your profile. We weigh skill overlap, role match, location compatibility, salary alignment, and visa sponsorship availability. 80+ is a strong match, 60 to 79 is a decent fit, below 60 is a stretch. Click any fit badge to see the detailed breakdown of how the score was calculated.
How is my profile shown to employers?
By default your profile is private. If you turn on discoverability in settings, employers on the Growth plan can find you when searching for candidates. They see your skills, headline, years of experience, and location, but your name and contact info stay hidden until you accept their interest signal. You can turn discoverability off anytime.
What is discoverability?
Discoverability lets you opt in to appearing in employer candidate searches. When an employer finds your profile, they can send you an interest signal describing the role they think you fit. You see the signal in your notifications and can accept (which shares your contact info) or decline. It is a good way to surface passive opportunities without actively applying.
What happens when an employer is interested in me?
When an employer sends you an interest signal, you see a gold badge on their job post in your feed and a notification in your bell menu. You can open the signal to see the role, the fit score, and a short note from the employer. Accept to share your contact info and become a regular applicant in their pipeline, or decline to pass. Declining is private. The employer does not see a reason.
AI Features
How does the AI cover letter work?
Hiro uses AI to generate personalized cover letters based on your profile and the specific job description. It highlights relevant skills and experience, matches the tone to the company, and creates a unique letter for each application. You can edit the result before sending. Available on Pro and Elite plans.
What about interview prep?
The AI interview prep feature generates role-specific practice questions based on the job description, conducts mock interviews, and provides feedback on your answers. It covers behavioral, technical, and situational questions tailored to the position you're applying for. Available on Pro and Elite plans.
Is my data used to train AI?
No. Your personal data, profile information, and application history are never used to train AI models. Hiro uses AI services solely for generating content on your behalf. Your data stays private and is only used to improve your personal experience on the platform.
Wellbeing
What is the burnout gauge?
The burnout gauge is a dashboard widget that tracks your daily application volume over the past 14 days and estimates your burnout risk level (low, moderate, or high). It uses your application count patterns to detect when you might be overdoing it and suggests taking breaks when needed. The goal is to help you maintain a sustainable job search pace.
What do mood check-ins do?
Mood check-ins let you log how you're feeling each day during your job search. This is a personal tracking tool, and only you can see your mood history. It helps you stay aware of your mental state and notice patterns between your activity level and how you feel. Mood data is stored locally on your device and optionally synced to your account.
How is burnout risk calculated?
Burnout risk is based on your average daily application count and recent trends. Applying to a moderate number of jobs per day is healthy, but sustained high volumes can lead to lower-quality applications and fatigue. The gauge turns amber when your pace is above average and red when it suggests you should take a break.
Privacy & Security
How is my data protected?
Hiro uses Firebase Authentication for secure sign-in with encrypted session cookies. All data is stored in Google Cloud SQL with encryption at rest and in transit. We follow security best practices including rate limiting, input validation, and regular security reviews. We never sell your personal data.
Who can see my profile?
Your profile is private by default. Only you can see your full profile, saved jobs, and application history. Employers do not have access to browse user profiles. When you apply through One-Click Apply, only the information needed for that application is shared with the employer.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. You can request account deletion from Settings. This permanently removes your profile, application history, saved jobs, and all associated data from our systems. Deletion is irreversible and typically completes within 48 hours.
Immigration
Does Hiro help with visa sponsorship?
Hiro filters jobs by visa sponsorship availability. If you indicate in your profile that you need sponsorship, the matching algorithm prioritizes employers known to sponsor work visas. The fit score accounts for sponsorship compatibility so you don't waste time on jobs that can't sponsor.
What is the H-1B sponsor database?
The H-1B sponsor database (available on the Elite plan) provides access to historical Department of Labor data on companies that have successfully sponsored H-1B visas. You can search by company, job title, location, and salary to find employers with a track record of sponsoring workers in your field.
