This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Life Sciences function. This position will report to Vice President, Global Marketing, Brand and Business Communications based in the U.S Familiarity with both B-to-B and B-to-C marketing for chemicals in pharmaceutical, paint and coatings, and personal care is a plus. Responsibilities - External Communications (75% of the role) Responsibilities include collaboration with regional business leaders and global communications colleagues to develop, manage and execute effective external integrated marketing communications plans and tactics that support business growth and protect and enhance Ashland's brand and market presence. The role also includes building relationships and pursuing relevant editorial opportunities with regional trade media to generate greater awareness and interest in Ashland's market-leading innovation, technical services and products. She/he must have the confidence and ability to uphold corporate brand standards while working with diverse regional business teams. Responsibilities - Internal Communications (25% of the role) Responsibilities also include collaborating with the Regional GM and India Leadership Team to develop and execute internal employee communications strategies and plans that are aligned to corporate initiatives (STEM), Ashland's brand, business goals, values and culture; and to develop content and manage employee communications channels, including mass e-mail, intranet, local town halls, celebration events, employee recognition awards, etc.; and to develop and execute a community relations strategy. Success Factors The successful candidate will have experience leveraging corporate brand assets to support regional objectives and will have worked collaboratively with global communications team colleagues, business unit leaders, marketing, sales and technical teams. S/he must understand the balance between global direction and local execution and how to make things happen. The ideal candidate has at least 7 years of experience managing marketing communications for a global Fortune 500 company, preferably in the specialty chemicals sector. Familiarity with both B-to-B and B-to-C marketing is a plus. She/he also must be comfortable partnering with key stakeholders across the company to maintain an in-depth understanding of products, services and brand strategy to build and implement impactful external and internal communications. She/he will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with communications team members and leaders within the different businesses. Strong writing and editing skills are necessary. Previous agency briefing and relationship management as well as strong budget forecasting and reconciliation skills is necessary. Job Competencies Plan and execute tradeshows, advertising and public / media relations, content development for the website, literature, social media, webinars, e-marketing campaigns and more in coordination with business leaders and global communications team colleagues leveraging brand assets. Draft press releases, manage approval of materials and distribution Execute news bureau and Thought Leadership activities partnering with communications colleagues, business leaders and agencies to garner feature media coverage for Ashland, its products and business leaders Ensure alignment of communications strategy with business priorities Coordinate regional STEM activities in support of Ashland's environmental, social and governance goals Manage the monthly forecasting and reconciliation of the regional communications budget Develop and enhance communications-related performance metrics to measure effectiveness, progress and business impact Coordinate the development of printed and digital marketing materials including newsletters, technical literature, presentations, direct mail, press releases and advertising Familiarity with digital communications, Google analytics, and social media Education A bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or related field (MBA or master's degree in related field is desirable)
