About the role

As part of our expanding European organization, we seek to fill a strategic and hands-on Director of Strategic Planning and Operations in Midsized Markets, Europe. This role will be critical in leading the strategic planning and operations defining the launch roadmap throughout the Midsized Markets region. This individual is based in Basel, Switzerland and will report to the Vice President, General Manager Midsized Markets. This role will be responsible for implementing company's strategic planning processes based on European frameworks and timelines, building and maintaining the strategic and operational roadmap and deliverables. Required Skills, Experience and Education: Design and deploy an effective structure for strategic planning and communication throughout the Midsized Markets organization. Orchestrate the launch roadmap, ensuring all operational capabilities are aligned with the broader launch goals, embedding a high standard of excellence. Ensure appropriate governance processes are in place including periodic reviews of launch milestones and objectives, along with any identified mitigation needs and plan of action. Design and maintain robust performance metrics and dashboards for the Midsized Markets region that provide transparency and enable data driven decisions, prepare presentations to support leadership team meetings and discussions; collaborate and align approach with countries, regional cross functional teams, other regions and Global teams. Provide input into Regional Strategic Planning teams and ensure coordination from global, regional and country teams, accordingly. Lead the cadence and operation of regional governance with cross functional teams. Identify appropriate owners, deliverables and milestones within the organization, ensure clear expectations by owner. Facilitate cross functional meetings and discussions with clear agendas and action items. Monitor and follow up on strategic and operational priorities and action items ensuring alignment with Europe and Global. Engage regularly with key stakeholders across all functions, utilizing insights and data to help senior management in decision-making. Escalate risks, opportunities and mitigation plans, and supporting problem solving in a dynamic and matrixed global organization. Provide a clear summary of decisions, opportunities, risks, issues, and actions to ensure key stakeholders are appropriately informed and can act accordingly. Develop, track and report against detailed operations & timelines, status reports, resources and progress. Optimize strategic planning cycles in collaboration with Finance and cross functional teams at country, regional and global level. Establish and foster strong teamwork partnerships within the organization. Demonstrate leadership by influencing, coordinating, and partnering across core and interfacing teams to ensure key objectives and milestones remain on track. Motivate cross functional teams and external resources in a matrixed organization with competing priorities, without direct authority or reporting relationships. Communicate effectively with senior leaders, peers, external partners. Provide support to help fill the gaps in strategic and tactical priorities. Preferred Skills: Advanced degree in a relevant field such as biotechnology, life sciences, or business administration. Proficient in English, proficiency in another European language would be an advantage. Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, additional experience in management consultancy is advantagous. Strategic thinker with the knowledge and personal credibility to shape and influence regional planning and execution. Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, significant project management capabilities. Agile mindset understanding interdependencies, develop and communicate plans, unite cross functional teams around key objectives.
