About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: You will ensure proper and effective operation of the Sea-Going Hopper Dredge's electronic equipment and systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic~ without more than normal supervision. Qualified applicants for this position must have the ability or potential ability to maintain and repair 1) Ship Navigation Equipment and systems including radars, Fathometers, Speed Logs, GPS's, Weather Fax, Navtex, etc; and 2) Ship Communication Systems including Global Marine and Distress Safety System, PBX system, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), etc. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. You must possess a current United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credentials (MMC) with a wiper or higher endorsement, and a (QMED) Qualified Member of the Engine Department with valid Electricians Endorsement within 24 months of entrance on duty.
