More about the role: We are looking for an enthusiastic bi/trilingual intern who is passionate about media relations and public affairs to join our Belgian team for a 6-month paid internship starting in August. We are looking for someone with existing knowledge of media, communications and Belgium's different governments, who is eager to learn more about topics such as writing, media relations, consumer communications, stakeholder research and engagement, digital intelligence or social media as part of our driven and collaborative team. Our international agency will provide a dynamic learning environment and the opportunity to work on diverse challenging projects. We provide a space for each team member to constantly grow and develop, with each project providing a new opportunity to expand our collective knowledge and capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out media, policy and stakeholder monitoring, research and analysis of issues, developments and trends to ensure the client is alerted on relevant topics
  • Provide hands-on support to develop relevant materials in English and French/Dutch (press release, opinion pieces, position papers, fact sheets, ...).
  • Pitch impactful stories to journalists
  • Help transform complex policy materials into effective outreach plans.
  • Take a holistic look at communications, monitoring results across approaches
  • Gain an understanding of the client's business, challenges and opportunities
  • Work hand-in-hand with the client leader/project manager on executing all necessary tasks on client accounts
  • Experience that contributes to success:
  • This is a position which requires good communication instinct and an interest in complex issues and topics. But a huge part is about you and your ability to build and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders and audiences. Key requirements for the role include:
  • A native level (spoken and written) in French or Dutch, fluent in the other and in English.
  • Proactive, eager to learn and excited to get more experience in public relations and government affairs
  • An interest in Belgian politics and media
  • Passionate about research, editorial work and data-driven storytelling
  • Strong digital skills
  • Critical thinker with a desire and ability to learn within a fast-paced environment
  • Good at time management, prioritisation and meeting deadlines
