We are seeking a skilled, independent CNC Programmer to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in our manufacturing process by developing programs and writing code to produce precision components on computer numerical control CNC mills and lathes. From design and engineering through precision machining, assembly, and finishing, we add value at every step-and you will be central to that mission. What You Will Do (Essential Functions) Programming & Optimization: Program CNC machines using Mastercam (required). Create, edit, and optimize G-code programs for maximum machining efficiency. Machine Setup & Operation: Set up and operate Haas 3-axis vertical milling machines, lathes, and other shop equipment. Perform complete machine setups including work offsets, tool length offsets, and fixture alignment. Tooling & Strategy: Select appropriate cutting tools, holders, and machining strategies based on material type and part geometry. Calculate cutting speeds and feeds to optimize cycle time and tool life. Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T requirements. Precision Machining: Machine tight-tolerance components using ferrous, non-ferrous, and plastic materials. Quality & Inspection: Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measurement tools. Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve machining issues including chatter, tool wear, chip evacuation, and surface finish imperfections. Maintenance & Safety: Maintain tooling, equipment, and machine calibration. Perform secondary operations such as deburring and polishing. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Collaboration: Communicate effectively with engineering, quality, and production teams. Job Requirements Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical/vocational training in machining or manufacturing is preferred.
Requirements
- Mastercam: 5 years (Required).
- CNC 3-Axis: 5 years (Preferred).
- CNC Setup/Programming: 5 years (Preferred).
- Equipment Familiarity: Hardinge Chucker Lathe, Bridgeport Knee Mill, and ProtoTrak Bed Mill (Preferred).
- Skills & Technical Requirements
- Strong Mastercam programming proficiency and the ability to independently program, set up, and run CNC machines.
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and optical comparators.
- Ability to analyze machining processes, implement improvements, and problem-solve with sharp attention to detail.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple jobs simultaneously.
- Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Environment: Work is performed in a machine shop environment with intermittent noise. Safety glasses, hearing protection, and other PPE are required in designated areas.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. Ability to stand, bend, and move around machinery for extended periods. Strong manual dexterity for tool handling, measurement, and machine operation.
- Schedule: Occasional overtime may be required based on production needs.
