Accounting Lead

Backed by leading investors and growing quickly, we are entering an exciting chapter of scale-expanding our team, maturing operations, and building the foundation for our next phase of growth. We are looking for an Accounting Lead to build and scale a world-class accounting function where finance acts as a strategic business partner. As an Accounting Lead, you will own the accounting foundation of a fast-growing AI business. This role is ideal for a builder who combines strong technical accounting judgment with a practical mindset. You will lead core accounting operations, strengthen controls, and implement the scalable systems needed to prepare the company for audit, investor readiness, and long-term success.

Responsibilities

• Core Operations: Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, general ledger, and financial reporting for timely, accurate, and scalable financials.
• Technical Accounting: Oversee critical areas including revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and accruals relevant to a venture-backed business.
• Audit & Compliance: Lead audit readiness and manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and finance partners for board reporting and future fundraising.
• System Building: Partner cross-functionally to improve operational rigor and establish robust internal controls without adding unnecessary complexity.

Requirements

• CPA required or strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining public accounting with leadership roles in high-growth, venture-backed companies.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, controls, and audit management.
• A "roll-up-your-sleeves" builder capable of operating at both strategic and hands-on levels in a fast-moving startup environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills to partner effectively across business functions.
• Familiarity with usage-based pricing, enterprise contracts, or multi-entity operations
• Experience with ERP implementations or finance systems optimization.
• Proven track record of building, mentoring, and developing accounting teams
