About the role
Our NGTL Operations Group is currently seeking a skilled Boiler/HVAC Technician to join our Mountainview Area team based in Edson, Drayton Valley or Rocky Mountain House, AB. Reporting to the Area Manager, the Boiler/HVAC Technician will maintain heating and HVAC equipment in a manner that meets operational needs, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements. This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and communication skills. The regular work schedule for this position will be: Week 1 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; Friday off Week 2 - Monday to Thursday 9 hours per day; 8 hours on Friday
Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical maintenance on boilers and HVAC equipment in gas compression & measurement facilities
- Perform inspections on glycol boilers, air conditioners, air make up units, heating systems and line heaters for natural gas compression & measurement facilities
- Participate in mechanical inspections, overhauls, and preventative maintenance in the NGTL Region
- Complete job quality assurance documents (JQAs) and work authorization/job safety analysis (JSAs) along with other electronic documentation
- Troubleshoot equipment problems utilizing technical reference manuals, documents and vendor support
- Supervise and coordinate third party contractors
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to other personnel
- Demonstrate safety leadership
- Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low to medium complexity projects with effective work management practices such as time management, work sequencing, and contractor oversight
- Collaborate and support our business partners as required
- Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP
Requirements
- Gas Fitter - Class A certification
- 2 years of technical training from a recognized institution may be considered
- Journeyman certification in a related field (i.e., Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic, Gas Fitter)
- 5 years of proven experience troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating boilers and HVAC equipment in industrial facilities
- Experience interpreting technical reference documents and reading drawings
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting boilers and HVAC systems
- Computerized maintenance management system and SAP experience
- Refrigeration ODP Certification
- This position requires candidates to:
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
- Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing
- Provide emergency support as required
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training will be required, which will involve overnight stays away from home base (estimated up 60% of work schedule)
