About the role

Aritzia is growing, and our AI Enablement team in our Technology division is growing with it. This is a unique opportunity to establish and operationalize the infrastructure required to ensure responsible, ethical, and secure use of AI across the enterprise. As the Senior Director/Director, Enterprise AI Governance, you will use your expertise in risk management and compliance to define the guiding principles and guardrails that shape how Aritzia designs and deploys AI. You will be the architect of our governance roadmap, operationalizing frameworks for transparency, data handling, and algorithmic integrity while protecting our assets through secure-by-design practices. A natural collaborator, you will chair the AI Governance Forum - partnering with Cybersecurity, Legal, Privacy, Technology, and other teams to ensure every AI solution, from initial proof-of-concept to production-grade platform, adheres to our rigorous standards. You will champion AI literacy and education, ensuring our teams are empowered to use these tools with confidence and accountability. As the Senior Director/Director, Enterprise AI Governance, you will: Ensure that Aritzia's AI governance strategy is aligned with our business objectives, technology strategy, and the prioritized pipeline of AI use cases. Design, build, and operationalize the enterprise-wide AI governance roadmap, establishing the guiding principles and guardrails for how Aritzia responsibly designs, deploys, and scales artificial intelligence. Develop and implement a comprehensive AI risk framework, including policies for ethical use, data handling, and transparency, and design and enforce standards to detect, manage, and mitigate bias in AI. Lead the AI Governance Forum, collaborating with leaders in Cybersecurity, Legal, Privacy, and Technology to ensure every AI solution adheres to internal standards and external regulations before deployment. Partner closely with the enterprise Cybersecurity team to protect AI platforms, data, and models by embedding secure-by-design practices, robust access controls, and advanced threat modeling. Play a key role in advancing AI knowledge across the organization by supporting the development of educational curriculums and fostering a community of practice to ensure teams use AI tools with confidence and accountability. Work with the appropriate Business Support partners to seamlessly lead the day-to-day function of the department in support of corporate objectives, while enabling progressive career development and incredible employee experience. THE QUALIFICATIONS The Senior Director/Director, Enterprise AI Governance has: Proven skills, education, and/or applicable certifications: AI Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) Regulatory Frameworks: Deep familiarity with the EU AI Act, NIST AI Risk Management Framework (RMF), Canadian AI & Data Act (AIDA), and ISO/IEC 42001 AI Ethics & Bias Mitigation: Knowledge of algorithmic fairness metrics (e.g., disparate impact, equalized odds) and tools for detecting bias in datasets and model output Risk Assessment Methodologies: Ability to design risk classifications for AI use cases Generative AI & Large Language Model (LLM) Security: OWASP Top 10 for LLMs, Hallucination Management, RAG Architectures, Agentic AI: Understanding of risks and guardrails Data Governance & Cybersecurity: Technical knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and PII masking/anonymization techniques within AI pipelines Cybersecurity for AI: Understanding of model inversion attacks, adversarial robustness, and secure API management Infrastructure Security: Knowledge of cloud security (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and how to audit "Black Box" third-party AI vendors MLOps & Model Monitoring: Model Observability, Explainable AI, and AI Lifecycle Management A commitment to learn, apply, champion and enrich Aritzia's Values and Business and People Lea
