Test Automation Engineer Location: Remote (Europe-based preferred) Type: Full-time Industry: Digital Health, SaMD, DTx Reports to: Head of Engineering > QA Lead Position Overview Newel Health is seeking a talented and proactive Test Automation Engineer to build and maintain robust automated testing frameworks for our certified SaMD and digital therapeutics. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of our software across web, mobile, and backend systems. Working closely with our development and QA teams, you will contribute to a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks using industry-standard tools and best practices. Identify test scenarios and create comprehensive test plans for functional, regression, performance, and security testing. Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to ensure continuous and efficient testing. Analyze test results, identify defects, and work collaboratively with development teams to resolve issues. Contribute to the development and maintenance of test data and test environments. Stay up-to-date with the latest testing methodologies, tools, and trends, and recommend their adoption where appropriate. Collaborate with manual testers to identify areas for automation and improve overall test coverage. Document test plans, test cases, and test results clearly and concisely. Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 13485, IEC 62304). Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in test automation, preferably within a regulated industry like medical devices or digital health. Strong proficiency in one or more automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Cypress, Playwright). Solid programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript. Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions). Familiarity with different testing methodologies (Agile, Waterfall). Understanding of software testing principles, test design patterns, and defect management processes. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience with testing of mobile applications (iOS and Android) and backend APIs. Knowledge of performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) and security testing practices is a plus.
