About the role

SPAN is seeking a Senior Product Manager for SPAN's Installer App - the mobile and field tools that our certified electrician and technician partners use to commission, configure, troubleshoot, and hand off every SPAN system in the field. In this role you will work at the intersection of installer workflow, hardware commissioning, BLE/Wi-Fi connectivity, device and cloud-side data structures, and APIs. You will dive deep into the realities of a job site to define a vision and execute on a prioritized product roadmap that gets crews in and out faster, with higher first-time-right rates and fewer truck rolls. Reporting to SPAN's Head of Product, you'll ensure harmony across our product ecosystem by collaborating closely with the heads of Hardware products, Platform products, Homeowner and utility experience, Design, Engineering, Field Operations, Installer Training, and Sales. You will champion installer-centric design and field-tested product strategies, demonstrating how to prototype with real crews and iterate quickly while holding a high bar for reliability - because every minute saved on a job site is a minute returned to the installer's day and a step toward scaling electrification. Transforming how installers experience SPAN will be at the heart of your role. You'll turn complex, multi-device commissioning into clear, guided workflows - circuit mapping, load configuration, backup setup, EV charger pairing, solar/battery integration, firmware updates, and final inspection prep - that work reliably on noisy job sites with weak connectivity. You will partner closely with the firmware, cloud, and mobile engineering teams to execute on product requirements while ensuring a tight partnership with the field. By overseeing the ongoing development of our Installer App and shaping how thousands of electricians install SPAN every day, you will play a pivotal role in turning electrification from a one-off project into a repeatable, scalable trade workflow. About You

Responsibilities

  • Immerse yourself and the team in the day-to-day reality of SPAN installers - ride-alongs, job-site shadowing, certification classes, and support call reviews - channeling their need for speed, clarity, and confidence into our installer digital product strategy.
  • Take ownership of the strategy, roadmap, and execution of the Installer App, in continuous alignment with counterpart product teams, field operations, and overall business goals.
  • Dive deep into the SPAN hardware and integrations ecosystem (panels, batteries, EV chargers, sensors) and commissioning capabilities to build scalable workflows that handle edge cases - partial backup, retrofit installs, mixed-vendor DERs, intermittent connectivity - seamlessly.
  • Rapidly develop, iterate, and deliver features that reduce time-on-site, lower escalation rates, and increase first-time-right commissioning, maintaining a balance between production delivery, upcoming workflow design, and new feature discovery with installer partners.
  • Champion a metrics-driven approach to prioritization, using field telemetry, commissioning success rates, time-per-step, support deflection, and installer NPS to guide decision making.
  • Maintain proficiency in 80% of our tech stack - native mobile, BLE/Wi-Fi provisioning, APIs, cloud back-end, data models, device firmware, commissioning protocols - and show eagerness to learn the remaining 20%.
  • Foster an environment that supports complex, non-linear thinking to create unprecedented field tools, being unafraid to experiment with patterns from outside the energy trades - logistics, field service, aviation maintenance, surgical workflows - to raise the bar for installer experience.
  • We are looking for a product manager who
  • Thinks critically. Can navigate through ambiguity, defend their point of view, and adopt a holistic yet pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Inquires expertly. Asks high-quality questions to uncover underlying needs not just stated wants, and thinks about future scenarios to inform present decisions.
  • Communicates effectively. Can articulate product ideas and value propositions in a way that resonates with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Works collaboratively. Acts as a bridge between product,
