About the role

The Architect of the Capitol is seeking a Director to assist the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director in the management, administration, and supervisory responsibility for the preservation, maintenance, and ongoing operations of the U.S. Capitol and Capitol Visitor Center. Oversees and directs the Tenant Services and Facilities Operations Branch (Carpentry, Sheetmetal, Electrical, Plumbing, Insulation, Masonry, Elevator, Paint and HVAC-R), engineers, and fire alarm teams. You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized experience: is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Candidates for the GS-15 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as having experience in the following areas: Managing and executing complex facilities operations or modernization programs for large historic or commercial facilities. Providing supervision and leadership in guidance to engineering-architect and facility operations and maintenance staff. Planning, formulating, and executing operating and capital budgets; preparing budget justifications. Representing an organization on technical matters at high-level meetings concerning impacts on normal building operations.
