About the role
THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This position is to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, modify and test aircraft engines within the Aviation Classification and Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD). DEFINITION OF AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1 = Enlisted members of the Louisiana National Guard. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training that has provided the candidate with the ability to plan, manufacture, and install cylindrical, square, or rectangular-shaped objects that have easily constructed fastenings such as single and double-hem edges and single, double or grooved seams. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: (WG-08) Must possess at least Twelve (12) months experience or training planning, manufacturing, and installing cylindrical, square, or rectangular-shaped objects that have easily constructed fastening; experience cutting and forming by using basic hand and powered tools such as hammers, chisels, hand snips, band and circle saws, squaring shears, seamers, bar folders, breaks, and stakes; experience assembling parts by seaming, bolting, screwing, riveting, tacking, spot-welding, or soldering; experience demonstrating a basic understanding of using measuring instruments. (WG-10) Must possess at least Eighteen (18) months experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories; experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and powertrains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft; experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical records, and diagnosis. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1. This is an Army National Guard dual status technician position which requires military membership. 2. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. *3. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. 4. This is a Testing Designated Position TDP. The employee is subject to random drug testing. Pre-employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing is a condition of employment. Note: The caveat is that the states, territories, and the district cannot drug test until a drug free workplace policy has been established and approved by the United States Department of Health and Human Services. 5. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 6. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
