This position will involve designing intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for municipal applications, websites, and digital platforms that serve both residents and internal stakeholders. The role requires a combination of design expertise, front-end development skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to create accessible, seamless digital experiences that enhance public engagement and streamline access to municipal services. Major Job Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Include: Strategy & Planning Collaborate with the IT division, Communications & Customer Experience team and municipal stakeholders to define user experience goals and business requirements for digital services. Develop user personas and user journey maps, reference available data and analytics, and conduct competitor analysis to inform UI/UX design decisions. Lead the design of wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity visual mockups. Acquisition & Deployment Work closely with the development team to ensure UI/UX designs are properly implemented and consistent with the intended experience. Ensure a seamless handoff of design specs to developers, and assist in front-end development when needed (e.g., HTML/CSS, JavaScript). Support the integration of user feedback and design iterations during the deployment process. Operational Management In collaboration with client divisions and departments, conduct regular usability testing and user feedback collection to refine UI/UX for continuous improvement. Maintain a consistent design language and style guide across all forms, web applications and municipal digital platforms. Work with the IT division to ensure the performance and optimization of UI components for responsiveness and scalability across multiple devices and browsers. Conduct regular design quality assurance (QA) reviews to ensure that the UI/UX implementation aligns with the approved designs and adheres to municipal branding guidelines. Work with divisions and departments, the Communications & Customer Experience team to identify user experience pain points and suggest / implement actionable design improvements based on user feedback, analytics and service trends. Assist in the post-launch analysis of newly deployed digital solutions by monitoring user feedback, analyzing metrics, and proposing updates or enhancements to improve user satisfaction and engagement.
