About the role
Avantor is seeking a Transportation and Logistics Analyst II to support supply chain operations by coordinating domestic and international shipments while providing analytical insights to improve logistics performance. This role partners with internal teams, distribution centers (DCs), and external logistics providers to ensure timely execution, maintain shipment visibility, and support data-driven decision-making. This is a full-time virtual/remote position with travel up to 10% as needed. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. How you will thrive and create an impact: Coordinate and execute domestic and international shipments to support on-time delivery performance. Serve as a primary point of contact for shipment tracking, updates, and issue resolution. Monitor shipment activity and proactively communicate status, delays, and risks to stakeholders. Maintain shipment logs, tracking tools, and system data (e.g., Export Booking Log) to ensure accuracy and visibility. Collaborate with DCs to confirm shipments are picked, packed, and shipped according to schedule. Coordinate with freight forwarders and logistics providers to arrange bookings and transportation. Assist in optimizing shipment routing and consolidation opportunities through data and carrier options. Arrange domestic transportation (e.g., drayage) to support port and rail movements. Track and manage export and import shipments, ensuring timely delivery and accurate documentation. Partner with buyers and suppliers to gather shipment information and support inbound logistics coordination. Work with Trade Compliance to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and proper documentation. Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Service, Planning, and DC teams to support order fulfillment. Analytics & Reporting: Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly logistics reports. Analyze shipment and performance data to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities. Support development and maintenance of dashboards and reporting tools. Assist in investigating shipment delays and contributing to root cause analysis activities. Provide data-driven insights to support continuous improvement initiatives. Process Improvement & Systems: Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements to enhance logistics execution. Support implementation of process improvements and system enhancements. Utilize systems such as SAP and transportation tracking tools to manage and analyze shipment data. Ensure data integrity across systems and reporting platforms. Participate in team meetings and cross-functional discussions. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5-7 years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or related analytical role.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) preferred.
- Exposure to international shipping processes and documentation preferred.
- Experience with reporting tools and data analysis (Excel, Power BI, etc.) desired.

- Ability to interpret data and translate findings into actionable insights.

- Environmental Working Conditions & Physical Effort:
- While examining the processes at a warehouse, associate could be exposed to an industrial environment; i.e. the associate may work near loud moving mechanical machinery and maybe exposed to dust, fumes, or gases.
- Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
