About the role

The Aviation Liability Claim Handler is responsible for the effective management of aviation liability claims, supporting the delivery of high‑quality, commercially focused claims outcomes in line with client, regulatory and firm requirements. You will handle a portfolio of aviation liability claims, ranging from routine to complex matters, applying strong technical knowledge, sound judgment and a client‑centric approach. The role sits within the Aviation Liability claims team and works closely with senior claims colleagues, legal teams, insurers and external stakeholders to ensure efficient, consistent and high‑standard claims handling. This position offers the opportunity to develop technical expertise within a specialist aviation environment while contributing to the wider success and growth of the aviation liability practice.

Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will:
  • Handle a varied portfolio of aviation liability claims, including consumer, attritional and more complex matters, in accordance with best practice and client requirements
  • Investigate, assess and progress claims efficiently, ensuring appropriate reserve setting, liability analysis and commercial decision‑making
  • Manage claims through their lifecycle, from initial notification to resolution or settlement
  • Provide clear, accurate and timely communication to insurers, brokers, clients and other stakeholders
  • Work closely with legal teams and external advisers to support effective claims strategies and litigation management where required
  • Ensure all claims are handled in compliance with regulatory, contractual and internal governance requirements
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date claims records, MI and reporting in line with operational standards
  • Identify opportunities to improve claims efficiency, service delivery and client outcomes
  • Support senior claims colleagues with more complex matters and escalations as appropriate
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative and high‑performing team culture
  • Essential Skills & Experience
  • The ideal candidate will bring:
  • Experience handling aviation liability claims or relevant liability claims within an insurance, legal or specialist claims environment
  • A sound technical understanding of liability claims, with the ability to assess coverage, liability and quantum
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple claims effectively
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of client and insurer priorities
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work accurately within a regulated environment
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to develop technical expertise within aviation liability
  • Experience working with claims systems, processes and reporting requirements
