The Consumer Protection Bureau plays a central role in enforcing state and federal laws against deceptive, fraudulent, and unfair business practices, including antitrust and monopolization matters. Attorneys in the Bureau manage their own cases, develop legal theories, and help bring consequential matters to resolution with the support of a strong, collegial team, making this an opportunity to build deep antitrust experience while also contributing to the Bureau's broader consumer-protection mission. Conduct civil antitrust litigation from initiation through resolution, including investigation, civil investigative demands, discovery, depositions, motions practice, hearings, and trial. Review proposed mergers and acquisitions to assess competitive impact and advise on enforcement options. Draft complaints, motions, briefs, civil investigative demands, consent decrees, and other legal documents in antitrust and consumer protection matters. Perform legal research and prepare written analyses on complex antitrust and consumer protection issues. Advise Bureau leadership and the Attorney General on matters involving antitrust law, market competition, and consumer protection enforcement. Handle select consumer protection matters involving deceptive trade practices and unfair business practices as assigned. Licensed to practice law in Nebraska, or a clear ability to be licensed in Nebraska by motion. Minimum of three years of experience in antitrust law, including mergers, anticompetition counseling, litigation, or regulatory practice in a private law firm, government agency, or enforcement body, or a minimum of three years of litigation experience that includes antitrust matters. Excellent legal research and writing skills and strong professional judgment. Demonstrated work ethic, initiative, and commitment to public service.
