About the role

From the headquarters in Gorinchem, we offer administration assistance on all different areas of expertise. This includes finance; The Accounts Payable department within Damen Global Support is responsible for the efficient and compliant processing of incoming supplier invoices across multiple entities within the Damen Shipyards Group. The team focuses on process optimization, automation, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal policies. Continuous improvement and digitalization are key priorities within the department. As an intern, you will work on a graduation assignment focused on the automation of the Chain Liability (WKA) process within Accounts Payable, including the improvement of supplier documentation management. You will have a focus on compliance aspects as well, as this is also part of the scope within Accounts Payable. The objective of this assignment is to design an automated end-to-end process that improves efficiency, reduces manual work, and ensures compliance with legal and audit requirements. At the end of the assignment, you will deliver a clear process design and implementation plan that can be used by the organization to improve the current way of working. Key accountabilities As an intern, you will: Analyze the current WKA process within Accounts Payable; Identify bottlenecks, risks, and inefficiencies in both processing and documentation flow; Conduct interviews with the team, Procurement colleagues and possible suppliers; Investigating automation opportunities within SAP and Process Director; Design automated triggers for requesting missing documentation; Develop a structured approach for compliance monitoring and audit-proof documentation; Deliver an end product that will improve the WKA process, and possibly implement the first steps.

Requirements

  • At least several skills/experiences from the following list are required to be considered:
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program within Finance, Business Administration, Supply Chain or related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Interest in process optimization, automation, and finance operations
  • Basic understanding of financial processes and financial law is a plus
  • Affinity with systems such as SAP or workflow tools is a plus
  • Fluent in both English and Dutch
  • Fulltime availability, on site in Gorinchem
