Grade Level (for internal use): 09 The Team: The Ratings team is responsible for assigning and surveilling national credit ratings in Colombia and Panamá, leveraging both traditional analytical methods and emerging AI-powered tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency. The practice covers national scale ratings for different sectors including corporates, infrastructure, local and regional governments and structured finance, among others. In this role, you'll work closely with senior analysts, contributing to the evaluation of credit portfolios and preparing presentations for rating committees using both traditional analytical methods and cutting-edge data analytics tools. You'll gather and organize key financial, technical, and industry data essential to the debt rating process, and apply your research, analytical, and reporting skills to deliver meaningful insights while maintaining our rigorous data quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment that stimulates continuous innovation and embraces technological advancement in credit analysis
  • Provide highest level of customer service and responsiveness
  • Communicate with a professional voice, demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English
  • Develop and maintain outstanding internal and external relationships
  • Conduct research and prepare documents and presentations for rating committees, utilizing both traditional analysis and AI-assisted data processing tools
  • Support Senior Analysts during analytical process
  • Maintain rigorous data quality standards and ensure accuracy of financial statement analysis
  • Manage multiple tasks effectively while working under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Comply with quality standards and compliance policies
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data on special projects
  • Work with analysts to publish periodic thought leadership articles
  • All employees must work from the office at least 2 days/week

Requirements

  • Basic Required Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related subject with strong foundation in financial analysis
  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 1+ years of experience in credit analysis in corporates, infrastructure, local and regional governments and structured finance
  • Strong analytical skills with an understanding of financial statement analysis
  • Must be able to quickly absorb, analyze, and act upon information, while demonstrating strong proficiency with quantitative data and emerging analytical technologies
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in both Spanish and English are required
  • Ability to multitask effectively and manage competing priorities while working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Aptitude for expanding, learning, and passion for contributing
  • Must be highly organized
  • Final-stage candidates must attend one in-person interview at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office before offer.
  • Additional Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of financial modeling and financial forecasting, including familiarity with automated modeling tools and data analytics platforms
  • Experience with data analysis software such as Excel, Python, R, or similar analytical tools
  • Understanding of AI and machine learning applications in financial analysis and credit risk assessment
  • Familiarity with database management and data visualization tools commonly used in the financial services industry
