Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct. *Under direct supervision, performs and conducts a variety of sonographic procedures and studies (abdominal, chest/thorax, small parts/MSK, head & neck, and vascular) on patients using ultrasound diagnostic equipment to detect abnormalities including masses, abscesses, stones, etc. Assists in the operation of diagnostic ultrasound equipment, observes sound wave patterns produced, processes diagnostic images, and presents completed sonograms to physician. *Documents observations made during the procedure for final interpretation by the physician or other qualified medical professional; obtain pertinent diagnostic images for record documentation when presenting cases. *Performs required quality control procedures on equipment and initiates repair as necessary to maintain safe usage. *Provides a basic understanding of ultrasound techniques, protocols, and equipment functions. *Explains the examination process to the patient and instructs and assists patient throughout the procedure. *Uses appropriate techniques and equipment for accurate diagnosis, as instructed by department leaders and radiologists. *Ensures consistent and reliable imaging results. *Verifies that images meet required diagnostic standards. *Explains procedures, verifies forms, transfers patients safely, positions them correctly, and provides any post-exam instructions within specified timeframes. *Reports major problems for repairs.
