About the role

Join our dedicated Title IX Compliance team as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Investigator at our Prescott, Arizona campus. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Title IX Compliance, the Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Investigator works closely with students, faculty, and staff to support and uphold Embry-Riddle's commitment to Title IX, by investigating cases, providing education, and ensuring compliance with the Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 federal civil rights law (Title IX). This role requires handling complex, technical, and highly confidential tasks with significant judgment and initiative. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Investigator conducts initial meetings (intakes) and investigates grievances for Title IX related issues, such as sex/pregnancy-based discrimination, sexual harassment, and sexual misconduct, including but not limited to sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking. The Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Investigator organizes and completes assignments while adhering to Title IX policies and other university guidelines. Staying informed about new laws and regulations from the Department of Education, the Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Investigator participates in continuous training and professional development specific to Title IX. Additional responsibilities include supporting policy development, assisting in the development of trainings for the university community, and coordinating programs for students, faculty, and staff. The position also collaborates closely with Human Resources, Counseling, Housing Residence Life, Disability/Accessibility Services, Safety and Security, Dean of Students, Health Services, Athletics, academic departments, and other staff. Support for Clery Act reporting is also part of this role. Responsibilities may evolve in alignment with changes to federal Title IX regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Case Intake:
  • Manage and respond to incident reports received through various channels (electronic system, in-person, email, etc.).
  • Conduct initial case intakes with involved parties, offering guidance on policies, processes, and supportive measures, such as mutual No Contact Orders and referrals.
  • Track and document all case details, collaborating with the Executive Director on time-sensitive issues and providing regular updates.
  • Coordinate campus intake efforts, effectively communicating with involved parties and other departments while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Investigations:
  • Conduct thorough, unbiased investigations into Title IX-related policy violations, interviewing parties and witnesses to build a clear, impartial investigative report.
  • Inform parties of their rights, provide supportive measures as necessary, and ensure all case files and records adhere to federal compliance standards.
  • Maintain high confidentiality throughout the investigation process and communicate updates to the Executive Director.
  • University Education and Outreach:
  • Assist in developing and implementing Title IX-related training for students, faculty, and staff, including handouts and presentations.
  • Collaborate with various university departments, including Housing, Athletics, ROTC, and others, to establish ongoing training opportunities.
  • Stay informed on federal and state laws related to Title IX, ensuring that educational content reflects current regulations and trends.
  • Coordination and Other Duties:
  • Assist in policy development, climate surveys, Clery reporting, and educational programs.
  • Attend departmental and committee meetings, participate in professional trainings, and assist with other duties as needed. This role occasionally requires night and weekend work.
