About the role

PIE's mission is to build and maintain a secure, scalable, developer-friendly platform that empowers all engineering teams to move quickly and safely. The team is the horizontal foundation for all of Commure engineering - RCM, Air, and beyond - owning core infrastructure, developer experience, operational excellence, and the patterns and guardrails that keep a fast-moving organization safe. The scope is the entire platform stack: traffic and networking, compute orchestration, datastores, multi-cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) including active data center migrations, Infrastructure-as-Code, the full observability stack (logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, on-call), and the developer experience from laptop to production - CI/CD, release workflows, and tooling. You'll lead a small, senior, high-leverage team and grow it deliberately. That means staying close to the technology, making architectural calls alongside your engineers, and hiring exceptional people as the platform's surface area expands. You'll also shape how we build in the AI era - evolving our platform to power LLM-driven products and AI-assisted engineering workflows across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and grow the PIE team - a compact, senior group where your technical judgment and hands-on leadership directly shape outcomes. Hire and scale the team as platform scope grows.
  • Own the platform roadmap across all pillars: cloud infrastructure, site reliability engineering, developer experience, intra-service security, and architecture standards.
  • Drive our multi-cloud strategy (AWS, GCP, Azure) and data center migrations, with everything defined as Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Own the observability stack end to end - monitoring, alerting, tracing, on-call, and incident response - and establish SLO-driven reliability standards for service health across engineering.
  • Raise the bar on developer experience: golden-path tooling, CI/CD pipelines, local development, and release workflows that make the right way the easy way.
  • Partner with Security to embed cloud security posture management, RBAC, secrets management, and secure-by-default patterns into how every team builds.
  • Serve as a force multiplier for product engineering - run lightweight architecture reviews, set conventions that create operating leverage, and triage cross-team infrastructure requests with urgency and rigor.
  • Position the platform for the AI era - infrastructure for LLM-powered products and AI-accelerated development across the engineering org.
  • Foster a strong culture of ownership, curiosity, and collaboration.

Additional Information

At Commure, we're building the AI Operating System for healthcare, the foundation that defines how care is delivered, documented, and financed. Our platform spans the full care journey: Ambient AI and Dictation eliminating documentation burden at the point of care, intelligent Agents automating patient and revenue workflows, and autonomous RCM processing billions in claims, all on a single AI-native platform integrated with 60+ EHRs. Healthcare carries a $1 trillion administrative burden and we're at the center of transforming it. Today, 500,000+ clinicians across 500+ healthcare organizations nationwide trust Commure to handle $25B+ in annual claims and support over 200 million patient interactions. Our latest $70M raise at a $7B valuation reflects the confidence the market has placed in this mission. Our team works directly alongside clinicians, not through layers of process, which means the gap between what you build and its impact on patient care is immediate. We move fast, deploy daily, and take full ownership from early thinking to production. If you're energized by hard problems, high stakes, and a team that holds itself to a high bar, you'll find your people here. The future of healthcare is being built right now. Come deliver this transformation. Healthcare remains one of the slowest industries to adopt new technology, lagging in automation, interoperability, and data-driven decision-making. Hospitals rely on massive administrative teams just to keep up with billing and compliance, while most small practices struggle with outdated tools, leading to cash flow issues and forcing many to sell to private equity groups just to stay afloat. Commure is here to change that. As Senior Engineering Manager, Platform Infrastructure Engineering (PIE), you'll lead the team that every other engineering team builds on. Our products support 250,000+ clinicians across hundreds of care sites, and the platform underneath them - traffic and networking, compute, datastores, Infrastructure-as-Code, observability, and developer experience - is yours to own and scale. This is the highest-leverage engineering leadership role in the company: when PIE ships, every product organization moves faster. If you're passionate about building platforms that multiply the output of an entire engineering organization, we'd love to talk.
