Responsibilities

  • Maintain EHS metrics, dashboards, and reporting for leadership review.
  • Risk Assessment & Prevention
  • Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and ergonomic evaluations.
  • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, R&D, and Facilities to identify and mitigate EHS risks.
  • Support management of change (MOC) processes from an EHS perspective.
  • Training & Culture
  • Deliver EHS training for new hires and existing employees (classroom and shop-floor).
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to site leadership.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through engagement, visibility, and coaching.
  • Contractor & Vendor Oversight
  • Support contractor safety programs and permitting (hot work, confined space, etc.).
  • Review EHS requirements for vendors and service providers.
  • Required Skills Competencies

  • Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field.
  • 5-8+ years of progressive EHS experience, preferably in medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting audits and inspections (OSHA, MADEP, EPA, FDA, ISO).
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Preferred Experience
  • Experience in cleanroom, lab, or GMP manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts-specific environmental and safety regulations.
  • Experience implementing or supporting ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 systems.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Frequently standing, walking, reaching above shoulders and below waist.
  • Ability to walk manufacturing and lab areas regularly, standing for extended hours.
  • Use of personal protective equipment as required.
  • Additional Information
  • The position is working on-site at our Acton, MA location.
  • Candidate must be willing to occasionally support 24/7/365 shift operations, by visiting shifts that start at night or weekends for EHS visibility, training requirements, etc.

  • Compensation & Benefits:
  • For U.S.-based positions only, the annual base salary range for this role is $81,600.00 - $122,400.00
  • This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation.

Position Overview The Senior EHS Specialist (Generalist) is responsible for assisting in developing, implementing, and sustaining environmental, health, and safety programs in support of a regulated medical device manufacturing environment. This role supports the entire Acton Campus for office, distribution center, warehouse, research, development, quality and manufacturing operations. This role partners cross-functionally to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture aligned with FDA Quality System Regulations and ISO standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on EHS professional with strong regulatory knowledge, sound technical judgment, and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
