The QR Business Team plays a critical role in driving digital payment adoption by enabling merchants to accept UPI and QR-based payments seamlessly. The team focuses on merchant acquisition, activation, engagement, and transaction growth across diverse merchant segments. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced State Head / Regional Manager to lead and drive the growth of the QR business across the assigned region. The role will be responsible for sales performance, merchant acquisition, QR deployment, activation, transaction growth, and ensuring successful adoption of Paytm QR solutions across SMB, B2B, KAM, and large marquee merchant segments. The candidate will play a key role in aligning with regional/state leadership and driving strategic initiatives to achieve business objectives while ensuring operational excellence, profitability, and sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management (The Coach & Motivator)
  • Build, lead, and scale a high-performing field sales organization.
  • Hire, attract, and develop top sales talent, especially in high-growth and high-potential markets.
  • Inspire, guide, and empower teams to achieve individual and collective targets while fostering a strong performance-driven culture.
  • Drive accountability through continuous coaching, structured feedback, and capability development.
  • Regional P&L Ownership
  • Own the P&L for the region, driving revenue growth, transaction growth, merchant productivity, and profitability aligned with business objectives.
  • Sales Strategy & Target Delivery
  • Define and execute regional sales strategy to consistently deliver on merchant acquisition, QR deployment, merchant activation, MTU (Monthly Transacting Users), and payment volume targets.
  • Drive growth across SMB, B2B, KAM, and enterprise merchant segments.
  • Merchant Acquisition & Network Expansion
  • Drive large-scale merchant acquisition through structured field sales and multi-channel distribution approaches.
  • Expand Paytm QR acceptance across key merchant categories and underserved markets.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities to strengthen the merchant network within the assigned territory.
  • Demand Generation & GTM Execution
  • Design and execute demand generation initiatives to increase merchant adoption and transaction frequency.
  • Own the Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy to maximize merchant reach, activation, and transaction conversion.
  • Drive achievement of acquisition, QR deployment, merchant activation, MTU, and payment volume targets.
  • Merchant Onboarding & Engagement
  • Ensure high-quality merchant onboarding and activation processes.
  • Drive merchant education and engagement programs to increase QR usage and customer adoption.
  • Improve merchant retention, transaction frequency, and lifetime value.
  • Sales Execution & Field Governance
  • Drive execution rigor through daily reviews, pipeline management, and structured governance across ASMs, TLs, and FSEs.
  • Ensure strong field productivity, conversion rates, and market coverage.
  • Build strong merchant relationships to ensure long-term engagement and satisfaction.
  • Product & Business Expertise
  • Develop deep expertise in QR payments, UPI ecosystem, merchant acquiring, and Paytm payment solutions.
  • Act as a field problem solver and trusted advisor for merchants.
  • Ensure teams effectively communicate product benefits and value propositions.
  • Market Intelligence & Strategic Alignment
  • Gather and analyze market feedback, competitor activities, and emerging industry trends.
  • Recommend strategies to improve merchant acquisition, activation, and transaction growth.
  • Ensure timely updates and close coordination with the Growth team and National Sales Manager.
  • Planning, Reporting & Performance Management
  • Own forecasting, business planning, and performance tracking for the region.
  • Monitor merchant acquisition, activation rates, MTU growth, transaction volumes, team productivity, and payout efficiency.
  • Drive weekly and monthly business reviews to ensure target achievement.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with Sales Excellence, Growth, Sales Operations, Product, Risk, and Merchant Support teams to ensure seamless execution and superior merchant experience.
