Summer Western Youth Horsemanship School Night Counselor

Responsibilities

• Supervise dorm and evening activities
• Reside in dorm with campers during the entire session
• Handle difficult situations or conflicts in a professional manner
• Oversee walks around campus grounds
• National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Competencies
• Leadership: Horsemanship School Night Counselor oversees the students during evening and night hours. Horsemanship School Night Counselor is responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students.
• Teamwork/Collaboration: Horsemanship School Night Counselor also works with other staff to facilitate the flow of the evening activities and to assist with any arising issues.
• Career Management: Horsemanship School Night Counselor will gain experience to help further their abilities in a communication related field. Horsemanship School Night Counselor will also develop leadership and communication skills valuable in most professional fields.
• Critical Thinking/Problem Solving: Horsemanship School Night Counselor is able to solve issues involving students and their relationship with their peers. Horsemanship School Night Counselor demonstrates ability to listen and to console youth if the situation deem necessary.
• Professionalism/Work Ethic: Horsemanship School Night Counselor must conduct themselves in a professional manner, yet make the experience fun and enjoyable for the youth.
• Oral/Written Communication: Horsemanship School Night Counselor is able to explain specific directions.
• Does this position require student to work outside the normal business hours for 8AM-5PM, Monday through Friday? Yes
