Job Description The Labour & Employee Relations Advisor operates as part of the Labour & Employee Relations team within the broader HR team. The role is responsible for providing guidance, direction and support to the Human Resources and Operations teams over various branches on matters relating to labour & employee relations, including but not limited to grievance management, training, implementation of collective agreements and general best practices. This position will also be responsible for general administration relating to labour relations matters and will ensure adherence to the Company's policies and procedures. This role will be based at our head office in Markham Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment. As a Labour and Employee Relations Advisor , you will impact in the following ways: Acts as the first point of contact for site HR and management team for all labour & employee relations matters Supports Management team with ongoing coaching, mentoring and knowledge to effectively manage team members within a unionized environment Coaches and guides Human Resources team members on matters relating to labour relations Participates and assists in the collective bargaining process; includes mandate development, preparation of materials, proposals, and collective agreement implementation Provides general support including but not limited to assisting with collective agreement interpretation and application, research, preparing and/or reviewing general communication Provides labour relations advice to management and human resources in addressing initiatives with possible LR impact Collects, analyzes, and interprets information such as case law, reviewing precedents, arbitral jurisprudence and gathering related documentation as required Track and analyze grievances for trends, potential issues with language; identifies opportunities for improvement. Generates grievance reports for regional management and senior leaders. Contributes to the development of labour relations best practice learning and support for leadership to promote positive union-management relations Co-Chairs Labour Management meetings and supports/manages overall labour management relationship. Participates in projects, providing labour relations support to a variety of stakeholder groups. Supports the Labour and Employee Relations team with information and evidence gathering required to respond to various employee matters that arise, including HRTO cases, MOL complaints and disputes. Some intermittent provincial travel may be required Performs other duties as required
