About the role
We are seeking a Production Supervisor to join our Brantford, Ontario, facility on our afternoon shift. As part of the Operations Leadership Team, you will lead and develop a team of hourly production employees while driving performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Continuous Improvement metrics. Working within a World Class Manufacturing (WCM) environment, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production operations while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Production & Operational Leadership
- Lead manufacturing operations during the designated shift, ensuring targets for safety, quality, productivity, and cost are achieved.
- Manage staffing, labour allocation, scheduling, and shift coverage to support operational requirements.
- Monitor production performance and drive improvements in efficiency, waste reduction, and schedule attainment.
- Analyze operational results and implement corrective actions to maintain performance standards.
- Facilitate daily operational meetings and communicate key site priorities and performance metrics to production teams.
- Support the achievement of plant objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all workplace health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns, driving corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, FSCC 22000, and all food safety and quality requirements.
- Promote environmentally responsible practices and proper waste management procedures.
- People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop hourly production employees to drive engagement and performance.
- Manage attendance, vacation planning, timekeeping, and employee performance.
- Facilitate employee training, onboarding, recertification, and ongoing development activities.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
- Effectively manage employee relations matters and conflict resolution when required.
- Continuous Improvement
- Support World Class Manufacturing (WCM) initiatives and Autonomous Maintenance programs.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement sustainable corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Partner with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, and other cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence.
- Identify and execute opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, and optimize equipment performance.
- About You
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience leading hourly employees in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food safety, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Experience working with manufacturing KPIs, including OEE, schedule attainment, downtime analysis, and waste reduction.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and conflict management skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a dynamic production environment.
- Demonstrated success driving continuous improvement and operational performance.
- Experience with WCM, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or similar continuous improvement methodologies is considered an asset.
