The technician is responsible for packaging, preparation, and distribution of medications, inventory control, customer service and maintaining pharmacy records. This Pharmacy Technician supports a high-volume inpatient pharmacy, filling approximately 370-450 medications per day. The role collaborates closely with pharmacy leadership, nurses, and a team of 24 technicians within a family-oriented, fast-paced environment. Technicians may be scheduled across three areas: Triage Shift, managing nursing requests, inventory, and task completion; Carousel Shift, supporting IV room operations, batching, and pyxis deliveries; and Night Shift, working independently with minimal staffing. This position offers valuable experience in inpatient pharmacy operations, teamwork, and patient-centered medication support. A caregiver in this position will work a day/evening rotation from 6:00am to 2:00pm or 3:00pm to 11:30pm with occasional midnights for coverage. Further scheduling requirements include every other weekend and every other holiday. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding. Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner. Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections. Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training. Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks. Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma/GED Six months of related experience OR completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program Upon hire, you must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application: Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP). Please note: A status as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee with OBOP does not qualify for this role.
