The Arc of Ocean County is seeking an energetic and community-focused Recreation Assistant to join our Family Support Department. Position Details Schedule: Tuesday through Friday | 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM Saturday | 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Pay Rate: Starting at $20.70 per hour, with opportunities to earn up to $24.70 per hour Bi-weekly pay schedule Essential Responsibilities Support individuals with disabilities during recreational programs, social activities, and community-based events. Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of activities designed to encourage participation, relationship-building, and community involvement. Assist with coordinating group outings, special events, fitness activities, arts and crafts, cooking programs, and other recreational experiences. Provide transportation to and from activities using agency vehicles when required. Ensure the safety and well-being of participants while providing supervision and support during all activities. Encourage social interaction, self-confidence, and active engagement among individuals served. Serve as a positive role model while promoting inclusion, respect, and person-centered supports. Assist with scheduling, event preparation, activity implementation, and overall program coordination. Provide guidance and support to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) participating in recreational programming. Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with supervisors, staff members, and families as needed. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED required. Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred. Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing required, with no more than five (5) points. Demonstrated employment stability preferred, including at least one (1) year with a previous employer.
