Overall Purpose of the Role The Lecturer plays a key role in supporting the effective delivery and continuous development of teaching and learning. The post-holder will be responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating high-quality, innovative teaching that supports student engagement, achievement and progression. Working collaboratively with teaching and supporting staff members, the Lecturer will establish and maintain strong professional relationships and contribute to the team's performance. The post-holder will participate in service planning, delivery, monitoring and review to support the ongoing improvement of academic provision and ensure a high standard of student support and customer care. They will also engage in relevant staff development and training opportunities to continually enhance their teaching practice and academic responsibilities. Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to) : Deliver high standards of teaching and learning, and monitor assessment processes in accordance with examination requirements: Produce schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment plans, learning materials and any other related activities that impact the effectiveness of learning Mark assignments by a specified deadline Assist in the identification of students' individual needs and Act as a Personal Tutor to students Attend appropriate meetings between departments Provide and maintain records of formative and summative assessments of students' learning Identify, share and embed good practice and resources in teaching, learning and assessment and course/subject leadership. Produce digital material, webinars, lecture recordings, marketing material and/or any other related material as and when required Engage in the quality assurance process and demonstrate an understanding of the regulations associated with the awarding bodies Dissertation supervision of UG and PG students Maintain own continuing professional development Ensure compliance with the School's Health and Safety policy Contribute to departmental, faculty, or company-wide working groups or committees as requested Undertake any other appropriate duties as requested by the Dean. Person Specification Essential Experience teaching and learning at undergraduate, postgraduate or equivalent level Relevant Master's degree Working towards or holding a Postgraduate Certificate in HE (PGCert) or equivalent. Working towards or holding a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Strong organisational and record-keeping skills Experience of working with students within a Higher Education or Further Education setting Ability to convey ideas to students from a wide range of backgrounds and with very diverse experiences Desirable Working towards or holding a PhD in a relevant discipline Working towards or holding a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (SHEA). Experience supervising dissertations Experience in Module Leadership Experience in teaching research methods and supporting students in selecting research topics An understanding of the UK professional frameworks Knowledge of HE quality assurance processes.
