Job Description: Duties and Responsibilities Surface Preparation & Sandblasting : Set up and operate sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare metal surfaces for powder coating, painting, or other finishes. Select the appropriate blasting media (e.g., aluminum oxide, glass beads, steel grit) based on material type and finish requirements. Maintain a consistent blasting pattern to achieve an even surface profile without warping or over-blasting. Quality Control : Inspect parts before and after blasting to ensure proper surface preparation. Identify and report any defects, inconsistencies, or damage to the supervisor. Work closely with the finishing team to ensure smooth transitions between sandblasting and coating processes. Equipment Maintenance & Housekeeping : Perform routine maintenance on sandblasting equipment, including checking hoses, nozzles, and air pressure settings. Keep the blasting booth and surrounding area clean and free of excess media buildup. Properly dispose of used blasting materials according to company and environmental regulations. Safety & Compliance : Follow all PPE requirements, including respirators, face shields, gloves, and protective suits. Operate equipment in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. Monitor ventilation and dust collection systems to maintain a safe work environment. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or GED preferred. On-the-job training is available for candidates with strong work ethic and mechanical aptitude. Ability to operate sandblasting equipment, including pressure pots, blast cabinets, and recovery systems. Knowledge of metal types and how they react to different blasting techniques. Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting and maintaining equipment. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely. Ability to work independently and efficiently in a production environment. Good communication skills and teamwork mindset.
