Job Description Summary This Manufacturing Engineer will establish internal processes that safely ensures the production of high-quality products that meet compliance and project requirements for Generator Rotors & Repairs operations. Drive continuous improvement across the product lines by owning project timelines, improving cycle & cost, and resolving technical/process issues. Lead and effectively interface with manufacturing and other support teams to complete projects to meet EHS, production, quality, and cost savings goals within schedule and budget. This job could require flexible hours. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Act as front-line manufacturing technical support for new unit and repairs generator rotor wind, providing support for the day-to-day builds. Learn and take ownership for and steer technical side of processes. Define and control production processes including tooling and equipment. Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment. Develop process workflow definition and estimate timing (lean standard work or L1's) to assist operations team to better understand and plan your processes and guide them in hitting cycle and handbook. Develop work instructions, methods and related procedures for generator rotor wind Support operator training and operator qualifications Support new unit or component product qualifications as needed. Lead efforts to ensure operator safety including ergonomic solutions. Initiate and lead capital equipment projects that support new product designs, factory capacity additions, and quality improvement goals. Act as fill in for operations leader. Inclusively lead teams with union winders to ensure best total team understanding of processes, strive to improve processes and ensure builds stay on production track. Resolve technical issues promptly. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy. Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrated with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market Uses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college with at least 3 years of experience in production assembly or High School diploma with at least 7 years production assembly experience Desired Characteristics Knowledge and experience of generator rotor wind and test on new units or repair generator rotors Familiarity with basic lean principles - takt/cycle and 5S Experience working with Source gate Experience designing tooling using CAD and/or Solid works Proficient in computer operations, including extensive use of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Basic understanding of electrical principles Engineering experience in industrial/manufacturing environment Experience with customer owned products that require repair Ability to influence others and lead small teams. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
