- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or equivalent work experience
- Product Owner certification required; Product Management certification preferred.
- 7+ years of relevant product owner experience required.
- 5+ years leading large‑scale digital platform delivery or complex IT/business transformation programs, with demonstrated ownership of cross‑functional execution, stakeholder alignment, and measurable business outcomes required.
- 3+ years of industrial, manufacturing, energy, or asset‑intensive operations experience preferred.
- Experience owning or leading digital platforms or data‑driven products that integrate multiple systems, sources, and users preferred.

Position Summary The Lead Product Owner for the Operational Insights & Visualization-Contextualization Team leads the evolution of Marathon Petroleum's digital twin and industrial AI capabilities, delivering high-impact digital products across Refining and the enterprise. This role drives product strategy, adoption, and value outcomes in a complex, multi‑partner ecosystem, working closely with senior leaders, engineering teams, and platform providers. Ideal candidates bring strong product leadership, business acumen, and the ability to navigate ambiguity while protecting value, relationships, and delivery outcomes. The Lead Product Owner role Identifies, collects, and evaluates new technology ideas, strategic extensions, or enhancements to existing products and/or services to determine their potential to address customer needs and to achieve goals in revenue growth and market share. Manages product lifecycles, including intent, definition, design, planning, development, prototyping and testing. Applies design thinking techniques (e.g. user stories, wireframing, prototyping) to define product features.
