It administers the Center for Military-Connected Students website and social media channels and supports the initiatives of the Center for Military-Connected Students by developing and leading programming to encourage student recruitment & success of students that utilize military benefits. The Manager serves as the institution's primary point-of-contact for processing military TA from all branches of the Armed Forces, STA from the Kentucky National Guard, and residency coding actions for members eligible for the reduced military tuition rate. This position creates institutional processes and policies to ensure military TA, and STA benefits are properly processed, and to ensure an efficient residency coding system. This position creates mechanisms to collect data on and to assess and evaluate efficacy of processes and policies. The Program Manager develops a comprehensive outreach/recruiting strategy for military installations around the country, cultivating relationships and selectively attending education fairs. The Manager provides leadership, oversight and strategic thought to run the Center for Military-Connected Students and supervises an Administrative Assistant II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Personnel Management (15%): Supervise the employee life cycle (i.e.: recruitment, employment, evaluation, and release) of staff employees Train staff in Center policies, procedures, and general information. Program Management (60%): Lead the institution's military Tuition Assistance (TA) processing program for all branches of the Armed Forces, and the institution's State Tuition Assistance (STA) program for the Kentucky National Guard Lead and maintain the institution's residency coding program for the reduced military tuition rate for all branches of the Armed Forces, establishing procedures to ensure an efficient and robust process making necessary updates as needed Advise academic units on policies and assist them develop strategies regarding recruiting military-connected students and recruiting on military installations. Collaborates with and maintains successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders to resolve roadblocks to student recruitment & success including the Bursar's Office, Registrar's Office, Student Financial Aid, Academic Advising Office, and the Kentucky National Guard. Engages with servicemembers regarding TA and STA issues and engages with installation Education Offices around the nation, when necessary for individual TA issues. Plan, Develop, and Lead Military Student Recruitment & Success Programming. Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of Military Student Recruitment & Success Programming processes and policies, making necessary updates as needed. Creates, oversees, and refines a strategy for military-connected student recruitment, developing relationships with Installation Education Centers through outreach and selectively attending installation education fairs. Unit Administration (25%): Provide recommendations to the Director in development of strategic Center goals, objectives, policies, procedures. Assists in leading the day-to-day operations of the Center for Military-Connected Students. Collaborate with Director on managing $550,000.00 budget for the Center. Manage the Center's website, and social media channels. Represent the Center on multiple campus wide committees. Execute special projects under direction of the director for the President and Provost. Preferred Qualifications & Competencies: Master's degree. Veteran of service in the U.S. military, or service as a military spouse. The individual must be an excellent communicator, able to learn new systems within higher education, and to translate between military and higher education civilian operations and actions. Enrollment, Admissions, or Student Success Management experience (customer service experience suitable substitute). Microsoft Office Suite proficiency. The ability to learn and utilize new software and programs may be required. Knowledge of military Tuition Assistance programs for all branches of the military (or ability to quickly learn). Knowledge of State Tuition Assistance program for Kentucky (or ability to quickly learn). Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Highly motivated and collaborative.
