- CRITICAL CARE TECHNICIAN PATIENT CARE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists nurse with providing direct care to Critical Care patients.
- Comply with established scope of practice. Adhere to department, unit, & hospital policies
- Perform clerical support functions to include computer/manual diagnostic order entry, complete and log consult physician pages, perform inpatient bed request/assignment and communication, monitor and direct response to unit based nurse call communication system
- Report & update RN & document patient information in the medical record
- Receive assignment & assist in care of patients as directed. Complete required rounding & assessments on assigned patients
- Maintain patient rights & confidentiality of patient information
- Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives & maintain good employee interdepartmental & public relations
- Maintain clean, orderly, safe environment for patients & personnel
- Follow established routines & utilize supplies & equipment in a cost-effective manner
- Work directly with RN/charge nurse in managing patient throughput
- Check & record patient's vital signs, communicate with RN
- Additional Duties
- Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines.
- Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization.
- Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs).
- Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
- Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs.
- For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills.
- Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
