Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operation of a high-volume laboratory supporting samples testing and analysis for two adjacent SAGD oil sands sites.
- Prioritize and direct team work to achieve goals efficiently using people, processes, and technology
- Oversee lab operations, leveraging advanced analytical equipment (e.g., GC, ICP, titration, viscosity/density tools)
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and resolving operational challenges and enhancing processes
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and Cenovus Operations Integrity Management System (COIMS) standards while modeling a strong safety culture
- Develop, coach, and manage team performance, including talent planning, feedback, and growth plans
Requirements
- Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Relevant university degree or technical diploma is required
- 8+ years of relevant industry experience supported with 3+ years of proven people leadership experience
- Extensive hands-on experience operating and interpreting results from a wide range of analytical lab equipment, including chromatography, ICP, titration, and physical property analyzers
- CALA accredited Lab experience would be an asset
- We acknowledge the value of transferable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.
- For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.

Transportation: Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations.
