GENERAL PURPOSE Under general supervision, performs responsible technical and administrative duties in support of District human resources (HR) administration functions, programs, and services including recruitment, selection, employee relations, learning and development, benefits administration, employee engagement and payroll to ensure smooth, efficient operations; provides information and established interpretations of policy and procedures and provisions of collective bargaining agreements to managers, employees and others; serves as first point of contact and an informational resource to applicants and the public; enters, maintains, and extracts accurate employee and applicant information using the District's HR system of record and other integrated applications; monitors and updates employee records; maintains a variety of confidential and sensitive records, files and documents; performs related duties as assigned. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Human Resources Technician is the first level paraprofessional class in the human resources class series. Employees in this class are responsible for supporting day-to-day operations of HR operations, programs, and services. Employees perform a variety of cross-functional tasks and provide first level contact with employees and the public seeking general information regarding District policies and procedures. Assigned duties require general functional knowledge of assigned areas of human resources and the exercise of independent judgment and initiative, with only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise.
