Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Benefit Eligible Yes Screening Date 2026-03-30 Job Description Summary The Library Operations Manager serves as the manager-on-duty and a first-line decision-maker for the university's main library during assigned hours, leading front-facing student services and ensuring a welcoming, responsive, and well-coordinated service environment. As part of the Access and Borrow Department (A&B), this role reports to the Manager, Access & Administrative Services, supervises two Library Technicians and one Senior Library Technician, and oversees public spaces and service delivery to maintain a safe and productive setting for study and research. This position participates in promoting student success through delivery of student-facing services and information resources including: - Supporting ILL and Document delivery through OCLC/Illiad - Enabling rapid turnaround for resource sharing platforms, including ExLibris' Rapido. - Triaging and troubleshooting electronic resource issues - Supporting delivery of online course materials, course packs, affordable learning materials - Support of the Libraries' catalog and discovery platform (Ex Libris' Alma and Primo NDE) Job Description Duties/Physical Demands: Act as on-site manager during assigned hours, with authority to make operational decisions and respond to issues as they arise. Supervise and support A&B staff and student employees, including setting priorities, assigning work, and providing guidance during shifts. Ensure the safe, orderly, and effective operation of library spaces, service desk, and study areas, responding to operational, behavioral, safety, or facilities-related issues and coordinating with campus partners (such as Physical Facilities or University Police/Fire) as needed. Help ensure continued access to library services, including circulation, online resources, and interlibrary loan. Triage and troubleshooting of electronic resource access issues and service interruptions, in collaboration with A&B staff and Library IT. Support of library college affordability initiatives that help students access required course materials and reduce barriers to learning. Observe and document patterns in service use, staffing needs, and recurring issues, and share insights and recommendations that support service quality and ongoing improvement of library services.
