Responsibilities

  • Duties and responsibilities may evolve as school needs change. Teachers and instructional staff may be asked to perform additional tasks to support student achievement, school culture, and team collaboration.
  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field required.
  • Licenses : Standard Arkansas Teaching License in Special Education K-12; or eligible for licensure through reciprocity; or enrolled in an Alternative Licensure Program (ALP) .
  • Experience : Prior experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
  • Must pass state and federal background checks, including fingerprinting and child maltreatment registry checks.
  • Ongoing participation in professional development activities as required by ADE.
  • Strong understanding of special education laws and best practices.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience teaching in a KIPP or other high-performing charter school environment preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
  • Teacher salaries will be based on the experience, degree level, and licensure per the SY 2025-26 Salary Schedule .

Additional Information

Special Education Teachers are responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborating with general education teachers, families, and support staff to promote each student's success. Special Education teachers report to and are supported by the District Special Education Manager, who provides leadership in all areas of special education programming. In collaboration with the School Principal, the Manager also supports the consistent implementation of attendance and behavioral procedures.
