About the role

Truckload Transportation Coordinator We are seeking a Truckload Transportation Coordinator to join our growing team. The Truckload Transportation Coordinator is responsible for planning, booking, and managing daily truckload movements across the network. This role operates in a dynamic, fast-moving environment where truck size, routing, co-loading opportunities, and carrier selection are adjusted daily to optimize cost while prioritizing on-time performance. This role owns execution from load planning through delivery and is accountable for securing capacity, negotiating rates, tracking in-transit freight, and resolving exceptions in real time.

Responsibilities

• Daily Load Planning & Execution
• Plan and book daily truckload movements
• Dynamically adjust truck size, routing, and consolidation decisions based on volume, cut times, and service requirements
• Ensure loads are tendered, accepted, dispatched, and delivered on time
• Sourcing & Rate Management
• Negotiate contracted and spot rates with carriers
• Secure spot capacity when contracted options are unavailable or suboptimal
• Maintain rate cards and spot rate benchmarks by lane and equipment type
• In-Transit Monitoring & Issue Resolution
• Track all assigned loads from pickup through delivery
• Proactively identify risks (late pickups, missed appointments, breakdowns, capacity failures)
• Coordinate recovery plans with carriers, FCs, and downstream partners
• Escalate high-impact risks with clear mitigation options and tradeoffs
• Provide weekend or after-hours support when needed
• Performance & Cost Optimization
• Balance service-level commitments with cost efficiency on a daily basis
• Identify recurring cost drivers and performance issues by lane or carrier
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to lane design, carrier mix, and tender strategy
• Visibility & Documentation
• Ensure accurate load status updates in TMS and internal systems
• Validate carrier confirmations, PODs, and delivery timestamps
• Support reporting on on-time performance and cost

Requirements

• Required:
• Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership
• Strong critical thinker who can evaluate tradeoffs and make sound decisions with incomplete information
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, dynamic environments with changing daily plans
• Clear, concise communicator who can escalate issues with context and proposed solutions
• Preferred:
• Experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or operations
• Exposure to truckload transportation (FTL, LTL. dry van, box truck)
• Experience working with TMS, carrier portals, or operational tracking tools
• Familiarity with freight terminology, equipment types, or rate structures
• Background in operations-heavy roles (dispatch, warehouse ops, field ops, customer ops)
