About the role

Location: South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3QU About the role Reporting to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Clinton Lau, the post holder will be a member of the Lau Lab with responsibility for carrying out research to characterise cytoskeleton-associated proteins that organise the malaria parasite, Plasmodium falciparum. The post holder provides guidance to less experienced members of the research group, including postdocs, research assistants, technicians, PhD, and project students. This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the Wellcome Trust for up to 3 years in the first instance. The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available. About you You will hold (or be close to completion of) a relevant PhD/DPhil, together with relevant experience. You will demonstrate a strong interest in interdisciplinary research involving cellular organisation and the ability to learn and apply specialist knowledge in areas such as structural biology, recombinant protein biochemistry and biophysics, and/or parasitology. You will bring excellent organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to independently manage your own research activities while contributing effectively within a team. Experience training and mentoring colleagues, and contributing ideas for new techniques, protocols, and research projects is essential. You will possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills, the ability to write for publication, present research, represent the research group at meetings and write accurate protocols and reports. Experience in membrane protein biochemistry, independently leading a discrete area of a research project, actively collaborating on research articles, and training others in acquired skills would be advantageous.
