PURPOSE OF POSITION The Data Center Architect Manager is responsible for owning and defining end-to-end technical solutions for SMA America's Data Center. This role serves as the technical lead and key interface between regional teams and SMA's global headquarters, driving standardization, scalability, and architectural excellence across the Data Center and its infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in energy systems, BESS, and grid integration, along with the ability to connect technical and commercial priorities to deliver high-impact solutions. PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES Create and maintain process documentation and best practices for Data Center technical solutions. Act as the technical lead for Data Center solutions, serving as a key interface between regional teams and SMA's Headquarters. Drive standardization and scalability of solution architectures. Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Product Management, Sales, and external partners and vendors. Proactively address integration challenges and regulatory changes. Support business development by providing deep technical expertise, presentations, and training materials. Share best practices, technical guidelines, and training materials both regionally and globally. Evaluate emerging technologies, industry standards, and competitive offerings to maintain technological leadership in the Data Center and its infrastructure. Drive project and stakeholder management at all levels, ensuring alignment between technical feasibility and commercial success. Other duties as may be required or assigned. REQUIRED RELEVANT PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial or Electrical Engineering or an adjacent discipline. 10+ years of experience in the energy industry, preferably in BESS and grid connection of large energy assets. 5+ years of experience in solution architecture, product management, or a comparable field. Knowledge of inverter systems, plant controllers, and battery interfaces. Knowledge of the specific challenges of grid integration of electrical energy assets. Experience with grid codes and grid operators. Ability to break down complex topics into clear technical requirements. Ability to connect technical and commercial properties into a valuable solution. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across customers, sales, and development teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal, is required. German and/or Spanish language skills are a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) is strongly preferred. Ability to travel periodically, both domestically and internationally.
