About the role
As a Despatch Operator, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of a busy external storage yard. This is a hands-on, operational role where you'll be responsible for picking, packing and loading products accurately while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and efficiency. Responsibilities
- Pick, pack and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Load vehicles in the correct drop sequence to support timely deliveries
- Receive, count and correctly store incoming stock
- Operate forklifts and side-loaders safely and to a high standard
- Maintain stock accuracy through careful picking and cycle counts
- Follow and actively promote health and safety best practices
- Plan and prioritise daily tasks to achieve optimal output
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet operational targets
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working
- Support across all yard-based activities as required, with flexibility for overtime
- HOURS & PAY
- Monday- Friday: 6.30am- 2.30pm / 11.30am/ 7.30pm (rotating weekly) + 1 in 4 Saturdays (AM)
- £32,569 per annum (inclusive of shift allowance) + additional allowances
- ABOUT YOU
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or yard-based role
- Proven ability to pick orders accurately and maintain high attention to detail
- Experience operating a forklift or similar equipment (licence preferred or willingness to train)
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- A proactive, self-disciplined approach with high standards of work
- A strong commitment to health and safety, including challenging unsafe practices
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
