About the role

1. Purpose of the Role The Technical Solution Engineer is a key technical point of contact between Trina Storage and customers, supporting Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the LAC region. This role is focused on supporting the engineering review process and ensuring correct implementation of technical documentation, including drawings, RFIs, submittals, and technical specifications, aligned with Trina Storage scope and applicable standards. The position works closely with the Sales team, Project Delivery LAC team, and HQ Engineering, acting as a technical support interface to help coordinate information, track documentation, and ensure smooth communication across teams. This is a development-oriented engineering role, ideal for someone looking to grow in large-scale energy storage projects and gain exposure to EPC processes and international engineering coordination. 2. Main Responsibilities 2.1 Engineering Documentation Support & Review Support the review of engineering drawings, plans, and technical specifications issued by clients or contractors, ensuring alignment with BESS system scope (container layouts, PCS, transformers, MV switchgear, BMS/EMS). Assist in the review of technical submittals such as datasheets, installation procedures, FAT/SAT documentation, and single-line diagrams. Help identify basic discrepancies between design documentation and equipment installation requirements (e.g., cable routing, foundations, structural interfaces, electrical connections). Prepare marked-up documents and track engineering comments under supervision, ensuring follow-up until resolution. 2.2 RFI and Technical Query Support Receive and support the registration of RFIs (Requests for Information) from clients or contractors. Coordinate with HQ Engineering to prepare technical responses when required. Maintain updated logs of RFIs and submittals, supporting tracking of status, deadlines, and follow-up actions. Ensure timely communication of responses aligned with project schedules. 2.3 Technical Support to Project Team Provide engineering support to Project Managers, Site Managers, and Utility BESS Engineers in interpreting drawings and technical documentation. Support site visits and field inspections when needed, helping document observations and potential deviations. Assist in identifying installation issues and supporting corrective action tracking. 2.4 Interface with HQ Engineering Coordinate technical questions with HQ Engineering for topics outside local scope or requiring deeper technical validation. Support the preparation of technical background information to facilitate engineering decisions, deviations, or approvals. Help translate HQ engineering guidelines into practical application for LAC project execution. 2.5 Documentation and Reporting Maintain project technical records, including submittal status, comments, and RFIs. Support weekly reporting with engineering progress updates and key technical highlights. Ensure documentation is properly stored in project systems, maintaining traceability of reviews and decisions. 1. Academic Background Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field. Desirable: courses or interest in renewable energy, energy storage systems, or high voltage systems. 2. Experience 1 to 4 years of engineering experience. Basic experience reading and interpreting electrical, civil, or structural drawings (single-line diagrams, layouts, detail plans). Exposure to solar, substations, or energy storage projects is a plus. Familiarity with EPC processes (engineering review, submittals, RFIs) is desirable but not mandatory. 3. Technical Skills Basic proficiency in AutoCAD or similar tools. Ability to interpret technical specifications of electrical equipment (transformers, MV switchgear, inverters/PCS, BMS/EMS systems). Basic understanding of electrical and safety regulations (Chile and/or LAC region will be taught on the job). Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and document management tools. 4. Soft Skills Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn engineering documentation processes. Clear written communication in Spanish; basic technical English for reading and drafting RFIs. Interest in structured engineering processes and documentation discipline. Ability to work in multicultural teams (Project Managers, Site teams, HQ Engineering, EPCs). Proactive attitude to ask questions and escalate issues with appropriate support. Working Conditions On-site/hybrid role in Santiago, Chile, with occasional travel to project sites. Coordination with HQ in Asia (flexible schedules due to time zone differences). Dynamic environment with multiple projects in different stages of execution. Strong learning exposure to international BESS project execution and EPC engineering processes.
