Job Description The EHS Sr. Manager is responsible for managing and ensuring compliance of all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs at the El Paso site, including the sterilization unit, in alignment with BD standards and local, state, and federal regulations. This role develops and implements policies and procedures that support employee health, safety, and corporate objectives, while overseeing wellness programs. The position serves as the site's Subject Matter Expert in environmental compliance, safety regulations, and EHS best practices, with a strong focus on environmental permitting within a manufacturing environment. The EHS Site Leader collaborates with internal and external stakeholders and drives cross-functional efforts to strengthen EHS performance, cultivate a culture of safety, and ensure continuous improvement aligned with BD organizational goals. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide effective leadership for associate, health and wellness. Coordinate day-to-day implementation of industrial health, ergonomic and wellness programs. Determine EHS site goals and necessary programs with site area leaders and managers. Effectively influences them to be strong EHS Leaders within their areas of responsibility. Responsible for review EHS policies, programs, and metrics to meet the goals and objectives of the business and fully integrating this into the plant management system. Prepare, implement, and operate the site EHS management system and programs and implement the necessary policies and procedures with a risk-based and structured approach. Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Capable of communicating, articulating risks, issues, ideas, plans, and proposals to all levels of the organization as well as influencing others without direct authority. Keeps abreast of the federal state, local laws (OSHA, DOT, EPA, FMLA, ADA, etc) as well as company policies to ensure the site is in compliance with the regulations. Initiates changes to practices and procedures to support compliance and ensure the necessary permits and licenses to operate in Columbus East are in place. Ensure effective occupational safety and health programs are maintained with external support from health care providers, insurers, community health, and regulatory agencies. Ensure employment-related medical screenings and procedures are effective and compliant. Handle Personally identifiable Health Information (PHI) in communicating with medical providers. Responsible to ensure safety amongst associates in the facility relating to weather, environmental, machine safety, or ergonomics. Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations regarding environmental discharges from the facility. Ensure compliance with waste shipment regulations. Training associates as necessary. Provide oversight and direction for day-to-day compliance with applicable air, hazardous waste, wastewater, and storm water permits, plans, regulations, etc. Ability to interpret environmental laws and permit requirements, stay abreast of the changing regulatory landscape, and analyze the various options for complying with new regulations and permit requirements. Ensure all work performed complies with all environmental and hazardous waste procedures, plans, policies, and requirements. Provide effective leadership and overall management of site EH&S associates. Conduct jobsite assessments, focusing on unsafe conditions and unsafe work behaviors; ensure appropriate action is taken to correct deficiencies. Lead Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), EPA, NDEQ, etc. inspections and investigations. Monitor and maintain records and permits of hazardous, biohazardous materials, and waste in compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regulations. Lead Emergency Response Team in case of Safety, Health, and Environmental hazard Lead the Environmental, Health, and Safety improvement plan. Other duties as required to support the needs of the business. Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (strongly preferred), or Bachelor of Science in Environmental, Health, and Safety, Nursing or a related field. Functional Safety Certifications, Certified Safety Specialist, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Six Sigma Green, or Black Belt, preferred.
