Job Summary: The Design Specialist is responsible for creating assembly instructions and drawings. Position requires the constant exercise of discretion and judgment to create three-dimensional models of prospective equipment in a manner that is compatible with available manufacturing techniques and equipment. This is a unique opportunity to work across several factions within the engineering realm. The bulk of the work will be design, while the rest will be Training and Checking new designs. Responsibilities

  • Design 70%
  • Uses SolidWorks software to create 3D models and detail sheet metal parts, model components and assemblies. Requires a high level of mechanical understanding to visualize equipment
  • Responsible for producing bills of materials for additional parts required by assemblies.
  • Produces documentation for assembly instructions and use of jigging or fixturing for proper assembly of products
  • Provides support to manufacturing personnel to resolve design and assembly issues.
  • Use proper design principles when incorporating dampers, louvers, fans, coils, heaters, and other components as required
  • Take part in continuous product improvement activities and play an active part in improving designs and documentation supplied to manufacturing
  • Performs special projects, assignments, and other duties as needed in order to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

  • Carbon & Stainless Pipe.
  • Copper Pipe & Tubing.
  • Education/Requirements:
  • Design 70%
  • Advanced knowledge of PDM/Solid Contact
  • Ability to train SolidWorks, PDM, Solid Contact.
  • Advanced knowledge of three-dimensional modeling techniques
  • Advanced knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and assembly
  • General knowledge of mechanical/HVAC principles
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office software
  • High mechanical and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented with excellent follow-through skills
  • Ability to visualize equipment based on basic information for first time builds
  • Minimum associate BSEE/BSEET With MS preferred.
  • Equivalent work experience in 3D CAD modeling will be considered.
  • At least 3 to 5 years' experience in Engineered design with SolidWorks software
  • Ability to communicate well with other site personnel as well as Sales PM, Service Manager and Technical Support personnel
  • Pipe Design 30%
  • Understands all factions of fabricating pipe assemblies.
  • Understands all factions of pipe layout including Supporting, Expansion Joints, Victaulic, Welded, Solder, Compression, etc.
  • Travel 10%
