Platform Science is looking for a Lead Software Engineer for our Core Product Development team in Ch ennai. In this role, you will be heavily involved in the architectur e, design, and development of high-performance solutions based on Java and Microservices. Beyond core engineering, you will play a key technical leadership role-contributing to critical architectural decisions, mentoring feature development teams, and occasionally stepping into Scrum Master responsibilities to ensure smooth sprint execution. Details: Full-time. Primary Work Location: Chennai, India (Hybrid/Remote flexibility). Essential Responsibilities Architecture & Design: Actively contribute to high-level architectural decisions and lead the implementation of scalable, microservices-based solutions. Full-Lifecycle Engineering: Participate in the complete product development lifecycle, spanning analysis, design, coding, unit integration, and system testing. Sustaining Support: Provide ongoing engineering support to our core products, addressing end-to-end feature enhancements and codebase optimization. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Management, Technical Architects, and Software Development Managers to validate, refine, and track feature requirements through to final delivery. Agile Leadership: Operate as a core member of an agile development team using Scrum methodology. Perform Scrum Master roles where required, guiding sprint planning and execution. Transparent Communication: Maintain clear visibility over your work items, proactively communicating progress and surfacing technical obstacles to the team. Target Capabilities & Skills Experience: 6 to 8 years of total software engineering experience within a robust SaaS or product-driven environment. Backend Mastery: Strong coding skills in Java with deep knowledge of J2EE Frameworks, Spring , and Spring Boot . Microservices Ecosystem: Proven experience in developing microservices applications and a strong track record of transforming existing monolithic systems into microservice architectures. API Development: Comprehensive knowledge of WebServices ( SOAP & REST ) and data integration patterns. Database Knowledge: Strong relational SQL knowledge. Experience with NoSQL technologies is considered a distinct plus. Frontend Knowledge (Nice-to-Have): Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as Angular or ReactJS is a plus. Cloud Infrastructure (Nice-to-Have): Experience working with AWS technologies is highly beneficial. Other Requirements Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills tailored for seamless global collaboration. Problem Solving: Strong analytical abilities and a dedicated problem-solving mindset. Mindset: A proactive self-starter who takes end-to-end ownership, welcomes deep technical discussions, and is eager to learn new technologies.
