In the Claims Treatment Specialist - Physiotherapist role, you'll utilise your clinical expertise to review the effectiveness of Worker's physiotherapy treatment in line with SIRA's Clinical Framework of the Delivery of Health Services. You will support claims teams by ensuring the right questions are considered in the approval of Allied Health Treatment Requests (AHTRs). You will oversee physiotherapy treatment progress and provide guidance to build the capability of operational team members. This will help them better assess and manage physiotherapy treatment. The role also entails communicating and negotiating with treating physiotherapists to address injury recovery and treatment plans and educate them on completing AHTRs. This dynamic role requires someone who is adaptable and can identify opportunities for continuous improvement. This will be a full time, 10 month contract position based in the Sydney or Newcastle office, with work-from-home flexibility (up to 3 days per week) considered from month three, subject to performance and approval.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to optimise treatment management processes and outcomes.
- Assess Allied Health Treatment Requests to support worker recovery in line with SIRA's Clinical Framework.
- Conduct file reviews and provide clinical opinions on treatment strategies, reviewing medical records and other relevant information.
- Liaise and negotiate with treating providers, doctors, specialists, and allied health professionals to facilitate treatment upgrades and manage treatment modalities.
- Identify the need for and refer to external services like Independent Physiotherapy Consultants or Independent Medical Examinations.
- Educate and train injured workers, employers, and operational team members on medical issues, best practices, and negotiation techniques related to workers' compensation claims.
- ABOUT YOU
- Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy
- Current AHPRA registration
- Demonstrated (3 years +) in clinical physiotherapy practice , with a strong focus on musculoskeletal injuries.
- Well established knowledge of disability and injury management best practice
- Comprehensive understanding and demonstrated experience working in the personal injury industry, ideally with experience with the workers compensation insurance and legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft office suite.
