About the role

The Singapore Canoe Federation is seeking an experienced and driven full time Kayak Coach to lead the daily training and competition preparation of national athletes within our High Performance Programme. Responsibilities

  • Daily Training Environment Delivery
  • a. Deliver structured training aligned to the National Kayak Programme standards.
  • b. Create a professional high performance culture.
  • c. Ensure training quality, safety, and accountability.
  • Technical Coaching and Athlete Development
  • a. Drive technical excellence in stroke technique, race execution, and performance.
  • b. Develop and implement individual athlete development plans.
  • c. Support long term athlete progression within the senior programme.
  • Competition Preparation and Delivery
  • a. Prepare athletes for SEA Games, Asian Games, and other priority competitions.
  • b. Develop race strategies and support competition execution.
  • c. Lead structured post competition reviews and performance analysis.
  • Performance Monitoring a. Maintain accurate training and performance documentation.
  • b. Contribute to regular performance reporting within the High Performance team.
  • Athlete Welfare and Management
  • a. Foster safe, respectful, and athlete centred environment aligned with national Safe Sport standards.
  • b. Promote positive training habits, discipline, and performance behaviours.
  • c. Identify and escalate wellbeing concerns according to established protocols.
  • d. Build trust and clear communication with athletes and stakeholders.
  • Athlete Pathway Support
  • a. Support progression of athletes through the development pathway.
  • b. Contribute to clear and fair pathway decisions.
  • Coaching and Performance Support Team Integration
  • a. Work closely with the Coaching and Performance Support Team including the Head Kayak Coach and sport science and medical professionals.
  • b. Contribute to a unified national coaching framework and pathway development.
  • What You Bring
  • Experience coaching senior or high performance kayak athletes at national or international level.
  • Proven ability to prepare athletes for major competitions.
  • Strong technical understanding of sprint racing demands and race execution.
  • Experience working within structured performance systems.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work weekends and travel internationally for competitions and camps.
  • Relevant coaching certifications and First Aid qualification are required.
  • A powered boat licence will be an advantage.
